"The Athenians"

Danny Kartoudi, Coordinator

The Athenian Dance Troupe welcomes all young men & women who proudly share their Hellenic heritage at various performances throughout the Fredericksburg region. The volunteer Dance Team is composed of students and adults who generously give their time and talent to promote their love of Hellenism. They willingly teach others to perform and to share their joy of dancing.

The Athenian Dancers began in 1992. They've danced at local competitions, University of Mary Washington Multicultural Fair and entertain at our annual Greek Festival, held every Memorial Day weekend. Their repertoire includes dances from the Aegean and Ionian Islands, as well as from the mainland of Greece while dressed in traditional, national costumes.

Our proud dancers find that performing the folk dances of their ancestors is an excellent way to maintain their cultural ties, maintain their heritage while spreading the glory of Greece to their audiences.

The group is under the direction of Danny Kartoudi.  Everyone works together to learn the routines and choreograph their performances. The program is open to all ages. If you would like to volunteer or become a member of The Athenian Dance Troupe, please contact Danny Kartoudi, Coordinator, by email at dannykartoudi@hotmail.com.
