Parish Council Meeting Minutes Tuesday, 5 February 2009
Nativity of the Theotokos Greek Orthodox Church 7:30pm
In Attendance: Maxine Calamos, Christine Fulmore, Steve Giannopoulos, Robert Morrison, Nicholas Pappas, Pauline Gorton
Absent: John Manolis, George Kartoudi, Sandy Winkler, Daniela Langa, Michael Euripides
Motion Summary:
Motion #1: Motion to approve the minutes from 22 January 2009 was made by Nicholas Pappas seconded by Robert Morrison and passed with a majority voice vote.
Motion #2: Maxine Calamos made a motion to enter into executive session seconded by Pauline Gorton and passed with a majority voice vote.
Motion #3: Nicholas Pappas made motion to table budget meeting because 5 Parish Council members not present to include the treasurer seconded by Maxine Calamos and passed with a majority voice vote. Robert Morrison abstained.
Motion #4: A motion to adjourn was made by Maxine Calamos seconded by Nicholas Pappas and passed with a majority voice vote at 8:17pm
1. Meeting Called to Order
• Steve Giannopoulos(SG) called the meeting to order at 7:40 pm.
• Father John said opening prayer.
2. Reading and Approval of Parish Council Minutes from 22 January 2009
• A motion (motion 1) to approve the minutes was made by Nicholas Pappas seconded by Robert Morrison and passed with a majority voice vote.
3. Old Business
a. Financial/Stewardship Update
• The Stewardship Update is as follows:
• There were 44 Pledges received totaling $43,150
• Actual Money collected was: $12,675 for pledges (which included $3000 from Philoptohos) and $ 4920 from non-pledges. This totals $17,595.00 collected.
b. By-Law Update
• Nicholas Pappas gave an update on the By-Law Report.
• The Report and Recommendations of the By-Law Committee has been sent to the parishioners with an addendum regarding an absentee ballot system.
• The By-Law report is attached to these minutes.
4. Executive Session
• Steve Giannopoulos requested an executive session at 7:54pm.
• Maxine Calamos made a motion (motion 2) to enter into executive session seconded by Pauline Gorton and passed with a majority voice vote.
• At 8:09 pm the executive session was over and meeting continued.
5. New Business
• Nicholas Pappas made motion (motion 3) to table budget meeting because 5 Parish Council members not present to include the treasurer seconded by Maxine Calamos and passed with a majority voice vote. Robert Morrison abstained.
6. Adjournment
• A motion (motion 4) to adjourn was made by Maxine Calamos seconded by Nicholas Pappas and passed with a majority voice vote at 8:17pm.
• Father said closing prayer.
