Parish Council Board Elections/Meeting Notes

Ø Members present: Maxine N. Calamos, Michael Euripides, Christine Fulmore, Steve Giannopoulos, George Kartoudi, Daniela Langa, John Manolis, Robert Morrison, Nicholas Pappas and Sandy Winkler.

Ø Members absent:   None

Ø Father John’s opening comments.

     ·         Parish Council needs to come together as a group and be united.

     ·         Father thanked everyone for joining the Parish Council.

     ·         We need to give of our time and talents and we need to recognize what those talents are.

Ø Opening Prayer

Ø President Nominations

     ·         Sandy Winkler nominates Michael Euripides

     ·         Daniela Langa seconds nomination for Euripides.

     ·         Bob Morrison nominates Steve Giannopoulos

     ·         John Manolis seconds nomination for Giannopoulos.

     ·         Nick Pappas motions to close nominations

     ·         John Manolis seconds motion to close nominations.

     ·         Ballot counted with Steve Giannopoulos receiving 6 votes and Michael Euripides receiving 4 votes.

Ø Vice President Nominations

     ·         Sandy Winkler nominates Michael Euripides.

     ·         George Kartoudi seconds nomination for Euripides.

     ·         Christine Fulmore nominates John Manolis.

     ·         Daniella Langa seconds nomination for Manolis.

     ·         Nick Pappas motions to close nominations.

     ·         Christine Fulmore seconds motion to close nominations.

     ·         Ballot counted with John Manolis receiving 6 votes and Michael Euripides receiving 4 votes.

Ø Treasurer Nominations

     ·         Nick Pappas nominates Sandy Winkler.

     ·         Christine Fulmore seconds nominations.

     ·         No other nominations.   Winkler is treasurer.

Ø Secretary Nominations

     ·         George Kartoudi nominates Daniela Langa.

     ·         Langa declines to run.

     ·         John Manolis nominates Nick Pappas.

     ·         Maxine Calamos seconds nomination for Pappas.

     ·         Michael Euripides nominates Christine Fulmore.

     ·         Sandy Winkler seconds nomination for Fulmore

     ·         Nick Pappas motions to close nominations.

     ·         John Manolis seconds motion to close nominations.

     ·         Ballot counted with Nick Pappas receiving 3 votes and Christine Fulmore receiving 7 votes.

Ø Steve Giannopoulos takes over meeting as the newly elected president.

Ø Tie Vote Between Steve Giannopoulos and Sandy Winkler

     ·         Steve says that there is a need to resolve situation regarding the tie vote in the general election between himself and Sandy Winkler.  This will decide whether their term on the Parish Council is either 2 or 3 years.

     ·         Father John believed that the UPR Article 25 Section 8 addresses this situation but after review during the meeting it was decided that this did not apply.

     ·         Father had already spoken with the Metropolis regarding this. 

     ·         Nick Pappas believes that the issue should have been settled at the meeting and the Metropolis should not have been contacted regarding resolution of this situation.

     ·         Motion to table the discussion for the next meeting.

     ·         All agreed to table the discussion except for Nick who opposed.

Ø      Vacancy (11^th member) in  Parish Council

     ·         Parish Council needs to fill council with an 11^th member.  It was tabled until next meeting.  Steve Giannopoulos asked for all Parish Council members to bring names of potential candidates to the next meeting.

Ø Regular Meeting Time

     ·         Consensus for regular meetings to be held on Tuesday evenings at 7:30. 

     ·         Bob Morrison has a conflict with making meetings on the 2^nd Tuesday of month.

     ·         We will confirm which Tuesday at the next meeting.

     ·         Meetings are usually once a month.   But, we will have at least a few meetings per month for the beginning few months of council’s new term.

Ø Sandy Winkler (newly elected treasurer) and Maxine Calamos(outgoing treasurer) will be working together for treasurer transfer.

Ø Father says there is an important matter the Council needs to discuss and will be discussed at next meeting on Tuesday.  Father did not give any details of this matter.

     ·         George Kartoudi 2^nd motion to close.

     ·         Unanimous close.
